Santa Marta
Trek through dense Sierra Nevada jungle to Ciudad Perdida, the ancient Lost City of the Tayrona civilization, predating Machu Picchu by centuries and reachable only on foot. This 5-day adventure combines multi-day jungle trekking, river crossings, and remote indigenous villages with a final day relaxing on the palm-fringed beaches of Tayrona National Park.
Arrive in Santa Marta and transfer to El Mamey to begin the Lost City (Ciudad Perdida) trek. Afternoon hike through jungle trails alongside the Buritaca River, camping overnight at a riverside camp.
Continue trekking through dense jungle, crossing rivers and climbing steadily toward the Sierra Nevada highlands, passing indigenous Kogi villages along the way. Overnight at a second jungle camp.
Climb the famous 1,200 stone steps to reach Ciudad Perdida, the ancient Tayrona civilization’s largest known settlement, predating Machu Picchu by centuries. Explore the terraces and plazas before beginning the descent.
Trek back down through the jungle to El Mamey and transfer back to Santa Marta. Evening at leisure to rest and recover after four days on the trail.
Full day exploring Tayrona National Park’s palm-fringed beaches and coastal rainforest trails before your departure transfer.
