Visit the Salar de Atacama, Chile’s largest salt flat, and the Chaxa Lagoon to spot Andean, Chilean and James flamingos. Continue up to the altiplanic lagoons of Miscanti and Miñiques at over 4,100 meters. In the afternoon, try sandboarding down the desert dunes just outside town.
