Day 01 Baku City and Gobustan

Most people will either arrive or visit Baku, Azerbaijan’s capital, at some point during their journey. The city is the ultimate blend of contemporary and historic vibes, which is perfectly visible in the city’s center. Here, you can admire the Maiden Tower, a 12th-century stone monument that’s listed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List and is featured on Azeri banknotes. Not far away, you’ll find the Flame Towers, three stunning pieces of architecture that represent modern and oil-rich Azerbaijan. The Heydar Aliyev Cultural Center (see below) is another example of the extravagant engineering Baku has seen in the last centuries.

The most important tourist places in Baku:

  • Flame Towers: The tallest towers in Azerbaijan, attractively designed to simulate the flames of fire and house the five-star Fairmont hotel.
  • Baku Boulevard: The world’s longest pedestrian promenade and the area is beautiful and crowded with visitors.
  • Nizami Street: A street designated for pedestrians and shopping and includes many distinctive restaurants and cafes. Many visitors to Azerbaijan prefer to live next to it.
  • Baku Eye: an amusement park that provides its visitors with fun games and activities.
  • Old City: A nice place to stroll, sip Azeri tea in cafes, buy some souvenirs, and visit museums.
  • Fountains Square: A famous square in the city filled with restaurants and cafes, as well as boutiques and stores that give visitors a wonderful shopping experience.

Baku has a handful of engaging museums and monuments, including the visually stunning Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater and the National History Museum of Azerbaijan.

Day 02 Gabala Adventure

This center is located in the heart of the city and consists of three floors and a vast hall in which all archaeological and historical exhibits are displayed. It also contains other buildings designated for researchers and archaeologists to excavate archaeological excavations within the boundaries of the ancient city of Qabala, to be restored and displayed in this center later.

Qabala is a city 200 kilometers west of the capital Baku, not far from the border with Georgia. This mountainous municipality has ruins of an ancient city wall that dates back to the 4th century BC. This was when Qabala was the capital of a historical state called Caucasian Albania. However, just like Astara, Qabala is mainly favored for the sights around it. The town is surrounded by mountains, and in winter this resort turns into a winter sports heaven. In other seasons you can still soak up the idyllic scenery by hopping on the cable car and floating between the Caucasian summits.

  • Depart for Gabala, a picturesque mountain town known for outdoor activities.
  • Arrive in Gabala and settle into your accommodation.
  • Go paragliding or zip-lining to experience breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes.
  • Enjoy lunch at a local eatery.
  • Embark on a thrilling off-road ATV adventure through the rugged terrain.
  • Relax by the fire at your hotel’s outdoor area, sharing stories of your adventures.
  • Optional: Stargazing in the clear mountain skies
Day 03 Sheki and Mountain Exploration

This century-old city was an essential hub on the Silk Road and is one of the most picturesque communities in the country. Cobbled streets, old stone houses, significant palaces, and dilapidated Soviet buildings all together give Sheki its unique character.

Sheki Khan’s Palace is the most dazzling royal residence in Azerbaijan and perhaps the most beautiful structure in the country. The architects didn’t hold back when designing the 18th-century summer house of the ruling Sheki Khan, as this masterpiece features artwork, brilliant stained glass, and grand halls.

Sheki is an epicenter of crafts and arts, and the city has its silk factory and plenty of workshops where you can watch the craftsmen continuing Sheki’s artsy traditions.

Sheki can be reached by marshrutka minivan, an overnight train, or through a tour from the capital Baku.

  • Travel to Sheki, a historic town nestled in the Greater Caucasus Mountains.
  • Explore Sheki’s architectural gems, including the Sheki Khan’s Palace with its intricate stained-glass windows.
  • Have lunch at a traditional Azerbaijani tea house.
  • Drive to the nearby village of Kish and hike to the ancient Kish Church for panoramic mountain views.
  • Return to Sheki and visit the local bazaar for souvenirs and local crafts.
  • Return to Baku and enjoy a farewell dinner at a rooftop restaurant overlooking the city’s illuminated skyline.
Day 04 Departure from Baku

After having a hearty meal in the morning, the day is left for your independent activities till you proceed for the check-out and dropped at the airport for your return flights.
